Undergraduates working in research laboratories are responsible for working safely and following the instructions of the Principle Investigator.

Participation in initial and annual training is required.  Additional training may be necessary if new hazards are introduced to the lab.

Review and sign the Research Laboratory Training Checklist with your Principal Investigator.

Review Standard Operating Procedures, Safety Data Sheets, and pertinent safety references prior to beginning work.  Depending on the hazards within the lab, these may include the Chemical Hygiene Plan, Biosafety Plan, Radiation Safety Plan or others.

Always use the appropriate personal protective equipment provided.

Undergraduate students may not work alone in the laboratory.

Report all accidents, injuries, and illnesses to the Principle Investigator immediately.
