Fire and Life Safety for Residents
All student residents (undergraduate and graduate) must be offered information regarding fire and life safety while residing in campus owned buildings.
This short video will describe basic instructions to follow in the event of a fire or evacuation of a building.
Electrical Safety
Only UL-listed power strips with an on/off switch and built-in surge protection are permitted in residence halls. Extension cords, outlet splitters, plug-in multi-outlet adapters, power towers, bed risers or headboards with outlets, and similar electrical devices are prohibited and may be confiscated.

A good rule is: if a device adds outlets but does not provide UL-listed surge protection, an integrated switch, and circuit protection, it should be treated as prohibited.
NFPA Cooking Safety
The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) has developed a series of cooking safety sheets that provide some basics for keeping safe in the kitchen and while grilling.
